Welcome to the NLPT@COMSATS Lahore

The Natural Language Processing and Technology Group (NLPT) is a part of the Department of Computer Science, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. It was formed by a combined effort from faculty members and graduate students in February, 2014.

We, at NLPT, are interested to work on machine learning models that allow computers to process and understand human languages. Our mission is to develop innovative and robust natural language processing technologies that improve machine understanding of human language. Our members are widely recognized as being among the best in the field, winning prestigious research fellowships and .

Our research interests fall into the broad areas of:

• Text Reuse and Plagiarism Detection
• Author Identification and Author Profiling
• Sentiment Analysis
• Word Sense Disambiguation
• Information Extraction
• Computational Resources for Pakistani languages

The NLPT group has close associations with the UCREL at Lancaster University and NLP at The University of Sheffield research groups which carry out research into other areas of computational processing of human language.
